Usenet for Mac – One-Click Downloads Coming Soon

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

Back in March, we were thrilled to launch our first ever Mac version of the Binverse software.

Today, we are pleased to announce that a new and improved version of the Binverse Usenet Mac client is on the way!

And the new version includes a feature we’ve been after for a long time, One-Click Downloads.

What’s a One-Click Download?

Now, when hover over one of the search results in the newsreader, you will see a “Download” button appear to the right.

Just click on that download button one time and the file immediately begins to download to your computer.

YouTube’s Birthday Present – 3 Billion Views a Day

Thursday, May 26th, 2011

Almost everybody is familiar with the concept of “dog years”.

Basically 1 human year is equal to 7 dog years.

It seems like the Internet moves in dog years too.

For example, it’s hard to remember a time before YouTube.

Where else would we have learned not to provoke Charlie with our finger?

But it’s only been 6 short years since the online video behemoth was unleashed on the public back on May 25, 2006.

And to say it’s been popular is a bit of an understatement.  As part of their birthday blog post, YouTube announced that it has surpassed 3 Billion videos viewed per day.

That’s basically one video each day for every Internet user in the world.  Pretty impressive.

And while there seems to be no end to YouTube’s growth, they’ve got a long way to go until they catch the original Internet sensation, Usenet, which will turn 32 (that’s 224 in dog years!) this year.

Be sure to check out the Binverse YouTube channel for video updates from Binverse.

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

Hello fellow Binversers. As you may have already seen, Binverse has launched a new design for our home page. In addition to being more pleasing to the eye we hope we’ve done a better job of explaining everything that Binverse offers.

As we’ve said before, we are constantly working on improving the Binverse experience. While the new web design may not be as exciting as our recent announcement of 400 days retention, we hope you appreciate a few cosmetic improvements along the way.

A special thanks to all our loyal customers. Please let us know what you think of the new design or the service in general. Email, comment on this blog, or just give us a call. Our goal is to be engaged with our customers and improve the service in ways you think are important.

Binverse Doubles Binary Retention – Now At 400 Days!

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

In a major upgrade to the Binverse service and search engine, binary retention has been upgraded to 400 days. That’s more than twice the retention previously offered and a huge improvement to the Binverse experience.

Binverse prides itself on being the best all-in-one solution for accessing, searching and downloading from Usenet. Our all-in-one approach makes Binverse an easy-to-use solution to the commonly complicated world of Usenet. The additional retention sweetens the deal by making the built-in search engine more robust.

Retention refers to the amount of time a post is available through the Binverse service. For example if someone uploaded a post one year ago, it would require 365 days retention in order for it to be available for download. With our recent service improvement, you’ll now be able to download posts from as far back as 400 days ago.

What does this mean for me?

More search results! When you use the Binverse search engine your keyword is run against the search engine’s index. Now that the index has been upgraded, you’ll be searching about twice as many posts. This means that there will be a greater variety of results and a greater likelihood that your search will be successful.

If you’re a hardcore Usenet user and you’ve been holding off on simplifying your Usenet experience with Binverse, now is the time to give us a shot. Our long retention, easy-to-use software, built-in search engine, preview feature, & full NZB support make Binverse the best Usenet experience hands down.

If you’re new to Usenet, Binverse will get you up and downloading faster than any other option available. Experience for yourself what you’ve heard others talking about, and rest assured that Binverse will deliver a robust download experience with a huge database to search through.

A special thanks to all our loyal customers. We hope you guys enjoy the extra retention. Stay tuned, we have plenty of other improvements to the Binverse service in the works.
